The following is a transcript excerpt of the Chicago Radiated Sports (CRS) broadcasting live by omni-portal on that day in August 2051. Used with permission.
"This is Avery Nyhet for the Chicago Radiated Sports reporting live from the Atraville campus. I'm here were literally thousands of students, fans, and many others who have shown up in droves for the newly formed Venatio Energy Commission, or the VEC for short. It is a match event between the Champions and the Pipes, which are the two most prominent teams in the tournament, and this is the first fight of the tournament to be broadcasted live. You can hear it only on Chicago’s Radiated Sports.
“Now I'm here with the Venatio inventor Chris Venatio: prominent graduate of Atraville and the coach of the Pipes. Chris, I ask you, why do you think the Pipes are going to win this tournament?"
"The Champions are a good team, one of the best. We've got a tough battle ahead of us, for sure. I really think the reason we can win this is because we want to. We've got a great group of guys: Neil, Mario, and Tim. These guys have put everything they have into this tournament, and they really want to win. That's what it's really going to take. They’ve even outlasted some of their group who mutinied against them and tried to destroy the team. But they persevered. That's what's going to win this fight. They've got to want to win; and they do. I've given them the tools they need, but they put in all the effort. They're going to do it."
"Thank you, Chris. Chris's team, the Pipes, will be facing the Champions in just a few moments, where we'll see how well Chris, the inventor of Venatio can do at coaching his own game. I'm sure he knows his reputation is riding on this.
“People keep coming into this gymnasium, and I’m not sure it can hold this many. We’re still a half-hour away from the start and the officials are shunting people over to the overflow entrance. This is quite an event for this small college.
“Now let's go to the Champions, where Todd Vals is their leader and coach. Todd, you’re smiling ahead of this big match. Do you know something? You’ve heard what Chris said, so what do you think it will take for the Champions will win the tournament?"
"The Pipes will be tough and they got the best coach in Chris, but we do think we can beat them. We’re all physicists, and we’ve got a real creative group of guys on the Champions. We’ve invented our own weapons and defenses, and we’ve got some innovative weapons that the guys have definitely worked real hard to make matchless. The Pipes won’t have anything like…"
"The Pipes are spinning, massless gluons."
"And who is this?"
"I'm Briel, and I'm with the Todd and the Champions."
"Thank you Todd, thank you Briel. Let’s hurry and catch this young lady. Young lady…young lady…YOUNG LADY, may I ask your name?"
"I'm Tomma."
"And who do you think will win?"
"I think the Regnum."
"The Regnum are nothing but atomic quarks. They couldn't beat a neutrino!"
"So Briel, why would you say something like that?"
"Because they use that protonic voodoo energy. That stuff can’t do anything!"
"And in your opinion, how would the Champions win?"
“Dark energy, of course. Everybody knows it’s the most powerful stuff in the universe."
