Party Games

"Hurry up guys; we're going to be late." Anika said as her pronounced nose beckoned and her eyes flashed. She was herding Earlen and Tomma down the hall when she saw Joram and Nick lounging in the commons area by their room.
"What's up?" Nick asked. "Where are you guys going?"
"Joli Beau's got a party tonight," Joram said.
Nick brightened, "Joli's parties are positronic!"
Anika's eyes flashed again hopefully, "So are you guys coming?"
Joram and Nick both stood up eagerly at the same time, "Absolutely!"
A few minutes later, the five of them were crossing the street dividing the college campus from the rest of Atraville and heading for Joli's house. When they arrived, it was already so full of people that the five of them had trouble squeezing inside. They carefully made their way to a type of living room where there were a large number of people in a heated argument.
“Who’s the best, Champions or Pipes,” Neil roared with a brightly colored energy drink in one hand. He pointed at Mario Rassembler, “Who do YOU say?”
      Mario, shaking, responded, “The Pipes.”
Neil howled in agreement, “The Champions drink.” With that, half the room raised colored energy drinks to their lips and drank. He turned his attention to Briel Gimei, “Who do YOU say?”
       “The Champions,” Briel asserted.
“All the Pipes drink,” Neil bellowed angrily. “Who’s next?”
“Me,” answered Todd Vals, moving to where Neil had been standing. Since his turn was over, Neil sidled close to Tomma, plastered with too much energy, and asked Joram if she was his girlfriend.
“No,” Tomma smiled sweetly, which seemed to melt Neil’s legs, or else he was just too drunk on energy. This would have gotten Nick rather anxious, except that at about the same time Stacy approached him, making his face turn pink instead. He seemed to have a hard time deciding on whom he wanted to concentrate, Stacy, Neil, or Tomma.
That was when Joli entered, brightening the room with her personality and making sure everybody had all the energy drinks they needed, although she looked harried and frazzled with the large number of partiers. Joram noticed that even though she wasn't particularly beautiful with her stick figure and mop black hair, but there was something about her that was wildly attractive, and he knew it was mostly her personality that made her so many friends and admirers. This was also what made her so enticing to Joram.
Todd pointed at Anika and asked the question, "So who are you for?"
Anika answered pointedly and smoothly, "But the Champions, of course." Earlen nodded quickly in agreement.
Todd smiling big and wide while half the crowd roared and the other half took drinks.
"You have to drink twice; there's two of them," Briel bellowed drunkenly.
Todd pointed at Joram and Nick, "You guys also?" But Joram and Nick both shook their heads no. "And who are you for?" Todd asked, the smile disappearing from his face. "I suppose you're for the Pipes?"
Joram and Nick both shook their heads no again. This seemed to frustrate everyone. Neil tensed in agitation, and everyone else grew eerily quiet. "Who do they say they were for?" Neil hollered.
Infuriating Neil even further, it was Tomma who actually found her voice to answer him, "We're with the Regnum, and we’re against dark energy."
Neil looked at Tomma with an angry, surly look across his big face, which made Tomma hang her head so that her blond hair hung down over her face. When Stacy heard this, she laughed haughtily before turning away from Nick in disgust, and took to speaking with Eric Ludus, the air soccer star instead.
Joram saw Nick's face turned from pink to purple in rage, looking like he was about to start a fight with Neil, so Joram piped up, "Let's just get out of here."
Joram's eyes connected with Anika's, but she shook her head, "We're staying here to party. You guys can leave if you want, but were not going with you." Earlen nodded in agreement.
Joli also looked at Joram and frowned as she walked out of the room to attend to her guests and other places. He wasn’t quite sure he had ever seen her frown like that before, and it made him feel particularly nauseated.
As Joram, Nick, and Tomma were leaving Joli's house, Joram had an idea to go with his sick stomach. "Let's start our own team," he said to Nick, whose face was still somewhat purple. "We can call ourselves the Regnum, and we'll fight using sanctus energy."
