Of all the teams of the thirty- some groups in the Venatio competition held at Atraville College this weekend, the Pipes hold the most promise. Why do I think so? Headed by a medal-winning weight-lifting competitor, Neil Groep has had several of his teammates join him on the Pipes, notably Mario Rassembler, Tim Buzi, and Bill Manias. That's quite a team, but that isn't why I think they'll win.
They also boast Chris Venatio- yes, that Chris, inventor of the games- as a member and coach of their entourage. Recruited by Neil after Todd Vals and Cecil Metus of the Champions joined together, he's quite an asset, but that isn't why I think they'll win. Chris has invented a number of new weapons for the games which are powered by the new Gero energy. They're awesome weapons and a great advantage, but that isn't why I think they'll win.
The reason I think they'll win is this: they want to win more than the other teams. Don't get me wrong; the Champions, the Air Soccer team, and all the other entries with less notoriety want to win, but not as much as the Pipes. When Todd Vals and Cecil Metus joined forces, everyone else wanted to quit, but not Neil Groep of the Pipes. When the Champions were fighting with Gero energy, everyone else wanted to quit, but not Neil Groep of the Pipes. Even when all his team members told him to give up, he persisted. Instead, he hung in there and fought. He brought Chris Venatio on board as coach and an advisor. He pursued Dr. Scelestus to get the Gero energy. Then he whipped his team into the shape they're in now: ready to win.
That's why I think the Pipes will win on Saturday, because they want to win more than any of the other teams.
