Among the field of some thirty different Venatio teams preparing for what has been called by many at Atraville College as a Venatio Energy Dueling tournament on Saturday is a group called the Champions. The tournament has been graciously created by the Venatio Energy Commission (VEC) in an attempt to get Venatio fighting off the streets.
The Champions are actually a merger between two former groups: one headed by physics graduate student Todd Vals and one headed by undeclared freshman Cecil Metus. There probably couldn't be two people with more similar backgrounds. Todd's privileged family fell apart when his father divorced his mother, who was suffering from some mental dysfunctions, and Cecil's father spent most of his time in prison while his mother had a hard time holding a job. Both guys remarkably overcame those early obstacles, Todd winning an academic scholarship under Dr. Trevor Scelestus, and Cecil a 'street' scholarship under Senator Howard Douglas. The result is a team of over comers, those like Todd and Cecil, who are able to overcome impossible odds and win.
This tough team of over-comers is also among the few sporting women in their lineup, including former teen model Stacy Delecto, now a freshman at Atraville pursuing studies in business sciences. Stacy and the Champions are joined by Anika Perperam, Earlen Uetke, and Harley Impropio, while Todd and Cecil are joined by Briel Gimei, Jason Volgende, Brad Aanhang, and Antony Seurata.
These are the over-comers; people who push through difficult obstacles to win, and people who will live up to their name, the Champions. This is where I place my vote.
