What happens when Venatio weaponry is taken outside the energy rink? What happens when the weaponry is used without proper shields? Venatio Beasts?
The Real Moon has again returned to the scandal-riddled campus of Atraville College to investigate first-hand the new phenomenon of Venatio Energy Fighting which has been sweeping the colleges and universities. This is where Chris Venatio, a physicist and the inventor of the game, went to school, so this is where the Moon went also to find the real facts. The Moon has found some startling facts: namely, Curt Elain.
Who is, or rather was, Curt Elain? He was just a short while ago a happy sophomore at Atraville who was part of the air soccer team until it happened. The Moon found him wandering the omni- tunnels beneath the campus, retreating from the camera's omni-light until he was forced into a rocky crevasse. He had fled from the camera so that the reporting crew of the Moon had chased him from one omni- tunnel to another until he became caught in the crevasse. The horror of it all was that he had become quite simply a beast. When the omni-light was shone into the crevasse, the Moon saw a blob of black, boiling molasses that covered his entire body with bright red eyes, like a walking mud-monster with fiery eyes.
What had happened to Curt Elain? The Moon investigated further and found the shocking truth. The Moon found he had become involved in energy fighting at Atraville as have many of the students, but that only weeks ago he had been caught in some crossfire outside of any protective energy rink, without any kind of Venatio shield, and he was struck with what has been popularly called ‘dark energy’ from a new type of energy weapon. Friends say he was fine immediately after the incident, but soon began to show a reddish tinge to the whites of his eyes. The Moon learned that Curt went downhill rapidly from there. As his eyes turned fiery red, a black cauliflower rash appeared throughout his body that progressed until it was a boiling, black molasses mud. Curt had become the monster that we found in the tunnels.
Before any of these outward changes had happened, however, friends told the Moon that Curt had turned into an angry young man. In short order he had rudely disowned his girlfriend of six months, shut down his close friends he had known for years, avoided those he knew on campus including the air soccer team, and refused any correspondence with his family. Curt had become a vagabond and a beast wandering the tunnels beneath the campus.
The Real Moon has brought you this grisly tale because Venatio Energy Dueling is the latest rage to hit all the college and university campuses. But it probably won't stop there. It will be in our cities, our primary schools, and our neighborhoods. This dark energy can strike anywhere. Be warned! What happened to Curt Elain, or something even worse could happen to any of us.
