More Strange Happenings at Atraville College

The Real Moon continues its series of exposing strange happenings at Atraville College by investigating the horrid demise of a once promising physics student.

Constructed by Real Moon Staff Reporter Rudy Tudosito.

The Real Moon has once again traveled to the scandal-riddled Atraville College, home of the popular energy fights, with some shocking findings. A strange disappearance of a top physics students has terrified the populace of greater Atraville, causing mild hysteria among students and faculty alike. The missing student is, or perhaps more accurately was, called Werner Ryhma.
Who was Werner? Professors and students have both described him as a hard working and dedicated student who consistently scored at the top of his class and loyally helped his friends to also do better. His good friend Dustin Rajongo, trying to look tough and strong at the devastating news, described Werner to the Moon as a trusted buddy who helped him get through his Quantum Programming class which he was failing, and another friend, Jeff Gruppe, told the Moon that Werner had stayed up with him all night one time helping work problems before his Applications of Heterotic Superstrings exam. His girlfriend, Sonya Alhir, described him as kind and tenderhearted, and always there for her as she choked back her tears.
So what could have happened to him, asks the Moon?
From in-depth research, the Moon has determined that Werner's mysterious problems may have started when he joined a club called the Pipes. The Pipes is a Venatio energy group at Atraville formed to oppose the Champions, another group which had largely dominated the fights through their use of dark energy, a power source discovered by the disreputable Professor Trevor Scelestus. So the Moon tracked down and questioned a member of the Pipes, his friend Dustin Rajongo, and was able to determine that something horrid had indeed happened to him. In a Pipes argument, he had been hit with dark energy, and even more horribly dark energy from a Rupter.
In subsequent delirium, he violently left the Pipes and wandered about the campus. Dustin had tried to chase him down, but had been cast off just as Werner had cast off the other Pipes. Sonja cried as she described to the Moon how Werner had treated her when she had found him later that night. He had even discarded his dormitory roommate, hall mates, and his other friends and acquaintances at Atraville. For days, the Moon learned, he wandered the campus, angrily despising the masses, often vocally, and sleeping underneath the campus in the omni-tunnels. Finally he left, and was never seen again.
The Moon traveled to his home town of Decatur, Illinois, and talked with his parents and younger sister, finding that Werner had harshly abandoned them also. His mother was terribly hysterical, refusing to be consoled, while his sister stared in a distraught manner at the ground and his father gazed emptily out the window.
The Real Moon asks the hard question, what happened to Werner? It evidently had something to do with the fights, the dark energy, and the Rupter. So the Moon asks the harder question, could this happen to you?
