The following article appeared in the radiated tabloid American Inventor in the August 2051 Issue. Used with permission.
It was a graduate student who had at one time had studied under the famous Dr. Trevor Scelestus at Atraville College, Stacy Delecto, who discovered that the much hyped Gero energy had other uses over and above just a power supply. By a subtle tweaking of the frequencies used in the Gero energy stick, Stacy created a powerful charm. It's not magic, and it's certainly not a love potion, its pure science. But beware: it does create a powerful attraction. Yep, it's of the cupid kind.
The Gero energy sticks were invented by the Professor Scelestus. Stacy’s genius was to simply modify the sticks with an old fashioned energy transmitter, creating a radiated aura of energy. She combined energy physics with psychology, which has recently determined that certain frequencies of radiated energy can mimic powerful emotions in the brain, in this case, attraction. Feeding the output of an energy stick into an energy field transmitter tuned to the appropriate frequency resulted in an energy charm that was powerful enough to create attraction for the bearer in all those in the immediate vicinity. You’ll become wildly attracted to the one using this energy charm.
The first models Stacy designed were just crude necklaces made with basic string. But she’s more recently designed bracelets, rings, belt buckles and other jewelry. In fact, she has even joined forces with a major jewelry retailer and created quite expensive jewelry that packs a powerful allure.
The new technology is not without its opponents. There are pockets of those who follow the late Professor Eliyh Probo in his opposition to Gero energy, and because of rumors of strange happenings at Atraville College from the startup of the Gero energy generator. There are others who simply oppose having their emotions manipulated. In some cases they are forming groups for government action against such energy charms, but they are in the far minority. The greater public seems to relish the new attraction.
There is another drawback, however, and that is because it takes a fairly hefty dosage of energy to affect the emotions. This means you will have to be fairly close, within three or four feet, to catch that man or woman of your dreams. There's no drawback to Stacy, however. Her invention his already earned her many millions and placed her on the top of America's young inventors.
