The Champions

      Todd Vals, Briel Gimei, Cecil Metus, Harley Impropio, Cecil Metus and his three followers were all sitting around a table at the Kyla with Anika Perperam and Earlen Uekte. Werner Ryhma was with them also.
      "Yeah, and they've got new weapons using the energy,” Werner was saying. “They're actually going to try again. They actually want to fight us again."
      Scatterings of laughter followed his statement.
      "How did they get dark energy weapons?" asked Todd, looking diplomatically concerned.
      "They've got Chris Venatio," he said, "and he's developed their weapons. They think that's going to help them beat us."
      More scatterings of laughter were heard around the table, but it was more of a nervous laughter.
      "They're gluons, all of them," said Cecil through clenched teeth. "Spinning massless gluons. I could take them without any energy. I could take them with my fists."
      Briel laughed and pounded long-armed fists on the table, "I'm right with you, proton. I want a chance at them."
      "What are you boys talking about?" Stacy Delecto was all hair and smooth skin and sizzling smile as she joined Anika and Earlen and the guys at the table. Her affect was instantaneous. Cecil became soft as a sponge, Briel's arms tangled around his fists, and suddenly nobody was talking.
      "We're talking about what we want to do to the others," Todd answered smoothly, unfazed. "Stacy also fights with the energy," he told them, although their eyes were glazed and their tongues seemed to have swollen in their mouths.
      "And did we get them to forfeit?" she asked turning to Werner.
      Werner blushed and was unable to answer Stacy for some reason, so Todd answered for him. "They've got the energy now and they're going to fight with new weapons."
      "Oh yeah?"
      "Their biggest mistake is that they think the only weapon we have is in the fights,” said Todd with a wide smile aimed at Stacy.
      Stacy smiled back just as wide, “That's kind of a big mistake.”
