They bound about the wide open field in shoes that make them fly. They spin and twist high in the air, performing kicks worthy of the circuses of long ago. There they battle and fight valiantly for a single black and white striped ball that floats as gracefully on the wind as they, buoyed by the same anti-gravity of the omni-electric field as the shoes that they wear. And their fans are as crazy as them, and becoming crazier every day.
Football, baseball, and basketball move over, there's just something about air soccer that has caught the spirit of the fans. More and more schools have jumped on that rocket ship, and ticket sales at schools with a program have already gone to Mars. Sportsportal International offers full omni-coverage of all the games, and several colleges are building air soccer arenas with especially top-loaded seating arrangements so that fans can see all the action up on high.
But what is it about this sport that has caused it to become so popular so quickly? Perhaps it’s that ball that floats gracefully through the air, powered by the omni-electric field, sinking slowly to the ground over the high football-like goalposts when a goal is scored. Perhaps it’s the omni-electric shoes worn by the athletes, which allows then to jump high into the wildest dreams of the fans. Perhaps it’s those spectacular kicks performed while seemingly floating in mid-air. Who can deny the thrill when two athletes collide high above the stands, sending each towards opposite ends of the field before sinking slowly back to earth.
Perhaps the biggest reason that air soccer his risen in popularity so quickly is that it has solved the biggest problem of soccer: the low scoring games. Air soccer is as fast as field soccer, as athletic as baseball, as strategic as football, and as thrilling as basketball with its high-scoring games. All this means that Air Soccer's going to get bigger, and its going to be with us for a long time. But that’s just my prediction.
