Skinny, of medium height, with thick black hair, Joram was from the small town of Antigo in frigid northern Wisconsin. His father was a science teacher in the Antigo schools, and his mother stayed home to raise him and an older brother,although she had studied economics in college. He effortlessly placed tops in his high school class of a scant fifty students, but unfortunately carried his poor study habits into the rigorous school of extra- dimensional physics, Atraville College. He had tried athletics, preferring mostly non-contact sports like track and soccer, but had performed so poorly that he gave up in his last couple years of school. What will become of him at Atraville College when he must battle dark energy to survive?
Name etymology: Contendo is Latin for "struggle", signifying Joram's simultaneous struggles over the theories of Dr. Reproba and of Dr. Veritas, and over his use of the Gero energy sticks and the santus blaster. Ultimately, his struggle is for his own life.
